This fun holiday dates back to ancient times as a festival of Spring. On December 18, 2007, this day was officially designated as such by the “United Nations General Assembly”. Devoted to raising awareness for people with autism, all states are encouraged to do their part for this cause. In the 2013 fifth addition of the “Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders” submitted by the “American Psychiatric Association” the conditions of autism were lumped into one category. The conditions of severity, varied characteristics and the detectable symptoms are the defining characteristics that put autism in its on category. In addition to the normal symptoms related to social disorders, there are frequently additional issues related to gastrointestinal disorders, seizures or sleep disorders. Often people will also suffer with mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression and attention issues. In 1911, Psychiatrist Eugen Bleuler was the first account of someone using the term Autism. In his description of the issue he alluded to a multitude of symptoms including schizophrenia resulting in extreme cases of social withdrawal. There are four temperate seasons Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring. Due to the beautiful colors of plants and flowers blooming and the promise of warmer weather, there is an excitement prevalent as we can begin to enjoy the great outdoors. The vivid colors of white, pink and lavender, start to dazzle us as the warmer weather causes trees, plants and flowers to come out of dormancy and begin to proudly display their gorgeous blooms. It is interesting how the different Hemispheres work. For example when it is the warmer Spring season in the United States and United Kingdom located in the Northern Hemisphere, other countries like Australia and New Zealand located in the Southern Hemisphere are experiencing autumn. So while March, April and May are defined as Spring in the Northern Hemisphere, September, October and November are the Spring months in the Southern Hemisphere. The scientific explanation for the changing season is that the axis of the earth actually increases its tilt toward the Sun. So back in the 15th century, brides really had not been introduced to daily hygiene. Meaning that annual baths were held in May. To make matters worse, the women took their baths after the men had theirs. Consequently, most weddings were held in June! Thus the reason for the fragrant floral bouquet.
